Simpler and more flexible client administration in the new Altinn

Altinn has launched significant improvements in access management. Whether you're managing a large accounting firm or a smaller business, it's now easier to manage powers of attorney and keep track of client portfolios.

For industries such as accounting and auditing, this means an important modernisation with new concepts, processes and technical solutions. Here are the key changes you should know.

What's new in client management?

The client management functionality is now significantly expanded and available to far more people than before.

1. Available to all businesses

Previously, client administration was reserved for accountants and auditors. Now the solution has been opened up so that all companies can use it to manage their powers of attorney more efficiently.

2. Pass on received powers of attorney

One of the biggest news is the ability to pass on powers that the company itself has received:

  • Companies can now pass on powers of attorney they have received from customers or partners to their own employees or other partners.
  • The powers of attorney can be granted to private individuals and handled directly in the new client administration solution.

Safety: Authorizations that have been passed on are automatically removed if the original authorization from the end user or customer is deleted.

3. Automatic power of attorney for managers

The general manager and chairman of the board are automatically given the role of client administrator.

  • This gives management greater flexibility to manage proxies directly.

You can now give the role 'Client Administrator' to other employees in the company. This gives them access to the client management menu, allowing them to delegate access packages and control who will work on each client.

Auditors and accountants will have an easier everyday life.

When clients give power of attorney directly – for example, when a spouse of the owner of a sole proprietorship is to give power of attorney to an accountant – the power of attorney can now be given to the business, not individuals. Thus, everything can be handled via client administration, and there is no longer a need for individual assignments from the client to employees.

Technical modernization: API replaces file upload

The current solution with uploading and downloading files is now being replaced by a modern API for client management. This means that access management can be handled to a greater extent directly in the end-user systems that accountants and auditors already use. The old solution in the "old Altinn" will still be available until 19 June 2026.
