Altinn alternative log-in methods
Not sure which option to choose? Email login and Altinn log-in currently provide access to two different inboxes. This means that if you previously logged in using the Altinn log-in method, you will not automatically see the same messages in your inbox if you now choose Email login – and vice versa. “Altinn log‑in will be discontinued on 19 June 2026 – what should I do?” After 19 June, you must log in using: Email login. Are you a new user? It is no longer possible to create a new user using the Altinn log-in method. If you are creating a completely new user, you must choose: Email login.
Email login
Email login is the new way to sign in to Altinn for users who do not have a Norwegian national identity number or D-number.
If you are creating a new user, you must choose: Email login.
How to sign in using your email address:
- Select Log in → International → Email login
- Enter your email address and select Next.
- Check your email. You will receive a one-time code.
- Enter the one-time code on the page to confirm the sign-in, then select Confirm.
Have you previously used Altinn log‑in?
You will eventually be able to link your old Altinn log‑in user to your new Email login user. This will give you access to your previous messages and forms.
It is not yet clear when this solution will be available, but we are working on it.
Sign in with Altinn login
As part of the transition from the old Altinn to the new Altinn, it will no longer be possible to sign in using Altinn log‑in from 19 June 2026.
How to sign in using Altinn log‑in until 19 June 2026:
Select Log in → International → Altinn login.
To ensure that you continue to have access to previous messages and forms after 19 June 2026, you will eventually be able to link your Altinn log‑in to your new Email login. Once this linking is completed, you will have access to all messages and forms received or sent by the old user.

You must use the new method: Email login.
