Research and development (R&D) in the higher education sector (RA-0852)
The survey is a census of Norwegian higher education institutions and measures resources devoted to research and development (R&D). Among other things, Statistics Norway collects information on the orientation of R&D, sources of funding and personnel. The purpose of the survey is to provide a solid knowledge base for Norwegian research policy. The results are reported to Eurostat and the OECD.
How often is the survey conducted?
The survey is conducted every two years, in odd-numbered years.
The response deadline is shown to the right of the questionnaire title in the inbox.
Who should submit the questionnaire?
Statistics Norway recommends that Heads of Department and the unit’s financial officer jointly complete the questionnaire. Access to the questionnaires is delegated by the institution’s Altinn contact.

How to find the questionnaire?
The questionnaire is available in the institution’s inbox.
How can you check whether the questionnaire has been submitted?
Once the questionnaire has been submitted, you will receive a reference number as confirmation that the data have been sent. After submission, the questionnaire will be moved to “Submitted”.
Incorrect submission
If the questionnaire has been submitted with incorrect or incomplete information, it can be submitted again by locating the questionnaire under “Submitted” or, if it has been archived, under “Archive”, and selecting “Create new copy”.
