Firearms certificate for slaughtering

If you are purchasing, receiving or inheriting firearms or weapon parts, you need to have a weapons permit from the Police. You will find more information about the permit below.

The applicant must document his/her need for such a certificate.

Criteria/conditions:

The following is required of the applicant:

The applicant must be 18 years old to purchase a rifle.

The applicant must live in Norway.

The applicant must have a record of good conduct.

Sobriety is required.

Remarks:

The certificate is usually granted for an unlimited period, but it can also be granted for a specific period of time, cf. the Firearms Act Section 8 second paragraph. A firearms certificate may be revoked pursuant to the Firearms Act Section 10 should the need for use of a firearm cease to exist.

A fee is charged for processing  the application.
