Approval of driving instructors
To work as a driving instructor or manager of a driving school, you need approval from the Public Roads Administration.
When should I use this form?
Please send your application for a licence to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's regional office in the region in which you wish to start practising as a driving instructor.
If you have practice/courses from another country, please also send your application to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's regional office in the region in which you wish to start practising as a driving instructor.

Application for approval should be sent to the regional office of the Public Roads Administration in the region where the applicant intends to begin practice as a driving instructor.
In cases where there are experience/qualification from abroad, the application should also be sent to the Public Roads Administration's regional office in the region where the applicant intends to practise as a driving instructor.

Criteria/conditions:
Individuals seeking public approval as driving instructors must be at least 21 years old. They must demonstrate sobriety and provide a standard police certificate to verify their suitability as driving instructors. Additionally, they must hold a valid driver's license for the vehicle category they intend to teach and pass a driving instructor exam.
The manager of a driving school must be approved as a driving instructor, possess a minimum of three years of teaching experience as their main occupation at a driving school after completing basic driving instructor training, and have completed a management course at Nord University or have equivalent management education.
