Foreign boat owners who visit Norway can leave their boat for storage for up to six weeks. If you wish to store your boat for longer than six weeks, you must apply for permission to Norwegian Customs before you leave the country.

About this form

In total, a boat may be used and stored in Norway for two consecutive years from the date of importation. Initially, you can send an application to leave the boat for one year from the time it entered the country.

If you need to leave the boat for a longer period, you may apply to Norwegian Customs to store the boat for an extended period until you reach the two-year limit. Such an application must be submitted to Norwegian Customs before the original deadline expires.

If you live outside Norway, or you have temporary residence in Norway and want your vessel to be stored in Norway for up to two years from the time of entry.

  • Documentation of the agreement on the storage of the vessel (for example email, invoice, confirmation from the marina)
  • Copy of passport/ID-card for the person that shall import and export the vessel
  • If you are applying on behalf of others, kindly attach a power of attorney/ authorization signed by the registered owner of the vessel.

Approved file formats for attachments are .jpeg, .png, .docx, .jpg, .pdf, .pptx, and .xlsx

The submission of this form requires a three-step process,

  • 1.    Filling in
  • 2.    Signing and submission
  • 3.    Receipt

 

1.    Filling in

Filling in consists of 5 parts. It is important to provide as much detailed information as possible when filling in the form.

·         In part 1, information about the applicant must be given.

·         In part 2, information about the vessel must be given.

·         In part 3, information on storage and the period for storage must be given.

·         In part 4, other relevant information for the application must be provided.

·         In part 5, attachments to the application must be uploaded.

·         In part 6, the declaration must be completed.

 

2.    Signing and submission

The form will be signed and submitted by clicking the “sign and submit” button. The form will then be sent to the agency and saved in Archive under "My mailbox".

 

3.    Receipt.

You will receive a receipt from Altinn with a reference number. You can find the receipt in your Altinn inbox under Archive. You use this reference number if you need to send further information/documentation. To submit new information in your case, use the form Existing case with Norwegian Customs.
