About this form

The form is to be used to apply for assistance from the customs authority to detain goods suspected of infringing intellectual property rights.

  • New application for assistance? If you are submitting an application for the first time, use " New application for assistance."
  • Changes / application for expansion of a current application? You have the option to change and add information, as well as apply to expand the list of intellectual property rights covered by the decision.
  • Application for extension? Applications for extension of an existing decision must be submitted within 30 working days before the end of the current assistance period. You also have the opportunity to inform about any changes or expansions.
  • Received notification of detainment? If you receive a notice of detention from the customs authorities, you can fill out a simplified application for assistance (application for assistance after notification of detainment). The application must be submitted within four working days from the time the notice was given.

The application is to be used by the right holder or their representative.

We recommend that you log in to Altinn as a representative of a company, as the form will be stored in the company's archive. If you use your personal user account, no one other than you will be able to see the form in the archive.

If you do not have a Norwegian national identity number or D number, you can create your own user account.

The Movement of Goods act section 10-1 (2) letters a to g, lists the information and documentation that must be included in the application.

  • a list of and documentation for the intellectual property rights the application concerns
  • Information that makes it possible to identify authentic goods
  • if known to the applicant, information that makes it possible to identify infringing goods
  • A declaration of responsibility where the applicant accepts liability for costs incurred by the customs authorities in connection with the detention.

If the application does not meet the requirements or is incomplete, you will be notified of this. You will be given the opportunity to comment and/or correct errors and deficiencies. If the deficiencies are not corrected, the application will be rejected.
