Export license for minke whale and whale products

If you intend to export products made from minke whales, the requirements in the Regulations relating to the regulation of exports of minke whale must be satisfied. Among other things, the Minke Whale Regulations require that the exporter is registered and that the necessary documentation is in place before a CITES export license can be issued.

About this form

Anyone who intends to export minke whale and whale products.

You must enclose:

  • confirmation from the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries of the registration of minke whales,
  • confirmation from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority that the whale products have been inspected by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority in accordance with the Marine Mammal Control Regulations or that the whale products come under the Norwegian Food Safety Authority's dispensation from the Marine Mammal Control Regulations.

Anyone who intends to export goods, parts or other identifiable products or by-products from minke whales must be registered as an exporter of minke whales.

The Norwegian Environment Agency issues an export license for each individual consignment after a registered exporter has submitted a written application.
