Case processing time

The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority aims to process applications for a licence within 30 days. However, the processing time is affected by the complexity of the application, the other caseload and the allocation of resources. Insufficient documentation also delays the processing of cases. Some may therefore experience a longer processing time than 30 days.

The applicant always receives a decision letter when the application has been processed. The response is generally sent to a digital mailbox, if the applicant has set one up. If the applicant does not have a digital mailbox, the response is sent to the postal address provided. The applicant will also be contacted if it is clear from the application that necessary documentation has been forgotten.

Fee:

A fee of four times the court fee will be charged for processing an application for a personal debt collection permit. Currently, it is NOK 5,256.

The applicant may appeal a final rejection decision.

Right of appeal:

The decision of the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority may be appealed within three weeks of receipt of the decision letter. The appeal is sent to the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority. The appeal body is the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority Appeals Board. The applicant has the right to familiarize himself with the documents in the case within the framework of the Public Administration Act, sections 18 to 19. The complaint must state which decision is being appealed, what change is desired and the reasons for the complaint.

The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority will conduct the investigations that the complaint gives rise to, and forward the complaint to the appeals body if the rejection is upheld, cf. Section 33 of the Public Administration Act.
