Fee:

There is no processing fee for applying for an authorisation as a state authorised auditor.

Case processing deadlines:

The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority aims to process applications for auditor licenses within 30 days. However, the processing time is affected by the complexity of the application, the volume of cases and the allocation of resources. Insufficient documentation also delays the processing time. Some may therefore experience a longer processing time than 30 days.

Right of appeal:

The Financial Supervisory Authority's decisions can be appealed. The Appeals Board for Auditors and Accountants is the appeals body, cf. regulations of 1 February 2012 no. 111. The appeal shall be sent to the Financial Supervisory Authority, which shall carry out the investigations on which the appeal is based and forward the appeal to the appeals body if the rejection is upheld, cf. Section 33 of the Public Administration Act.

The appeal must state which decision is being appealed, what change is desired and the reasons on which the appeal is based.

Applicants have the right to appeal under Section 28 of the Public Administration Act (forvaltningsloven § 28).
